Elddis Owners Junior Update Page

Junior & Teenage Representative 2010 "Naomi Robinson"

MY INTRODUCTION AS JUNIOR MEMBER

Hi guys. My name is Naomi and I’m the Junior and Teenage Representative for the Elddis Owners Club. My job is to listen to the kids in the club and help get what they want out of the club to happen. For example, you may like to have competitions with the other kids on each rally, maybe a sports day or different types of activities, like a crafts afternoon. Whatever you like to do, let me know and I’ll see about getting it sorted. I also have to choose a charity for the club to support throughout the year, and I decided to support the British Heart Foundation. This is a charity that carries out research into heart disease and helps people who suffer from heart problems. If you’d like to find out more about the charity then visit their website: www.bhf.org.uk
Each rally I try to organise some kind of fundraising activity to raise money, and this could be anything from guessing the Lottery Bonus Ball to taking part in an auction. If you have any ideas about what kind of fundraising activities we could do, please let me know.

So here’s a little bit about me:
I’m 17 years old and I am currently studying four A Level subjects at my Sixth Form. I absolutely love to act, sing and dance, and hope to be an actress or Drama teacher after University. I spend lots of my free time at my play rehearsals, reading my favourite books and playing my guitar. My favourite film is The Bodyguard, because I love Whitney Houston and I’m a romantic at heart, my favourite book is Elsewhere because it’s very imaginative (a very good read, I recommend it), and my favourite musical is Footloose, because I went to see it when my RE teacher was in it, and I loved the brilliant songs and energetic dance routines.
I like going to Elddis Owners rallies because I have made friends from all over the country, and I enjoy going and talking to them. Also, I like the social events in the evenings because sometimes there are silly games that all the adults join in with, and it’s a lot of fun.
And here’s a little bit about my sister and brother:
“I have a laugh with everyone, it gives me a chance to relax after a long week, and everyone is really friendly.”
Fiona, 15

“I enjoy playing Mario Karts wirelessly with my friends on my games console, and playing games with the other kids.”
Aaron, 12

If you have any ideas that I have talked about above, or would like to know more about being a junior member of the club and what we do, please contact us on the club’s email, and I’m sure your query will be passed on.
Bye for now,

Naomi

Elddis Owners Club's Junior & Teenage Representative raises further funds for the British Heart Foundation
Naomi Robinson has helped raise over £700 since September 2009.

Elddis is delighted to report that since her appointment in August as the Elddis Owners Club's Junior & Teenage Representative, Naomi Robinson has raised over £700 for the British Heart Foundation.

Naomi has spearheaded a campaign to support the Club's chosen charity and together with Club members of all ages has achieved a huge amount in the short time she has been in her new role.

Over Christmas, Naomi organised a variety of raffles at the Club's festive rally, including a luxury hamper provided by Elddis.

This year was the Elddis Owners Club's turn to run the national ACCEO (Association of Caravan and Camping Exempted Organisations) rally and to choose the benefiting charity, raising over £300 for the British Heart Foundation.

Many Elddis Owners have taken part in fundraising activity in their own time, too. Members sponsored in the latest Santa Jog organised through the British Heart Foundation raised over £200.

Santa Report

As the Elddis Owners are supporting the British Heart Foundation this year, members are always looking for different ways to raise money for the very worthy charity. Quite randomly, I came across a Santa Jog that the charity itself had organised in Sheffield, and after a bit of arm twisting, the Swiss Family Robinson in its entirety agreed to take part. However, news quickly spread and, before long, the Robinsons, the McArdles, the Scarlls and the Rowbothams were signed up. So, on the 20th December, we gathered in the town centre, collected our Santa suits, and got ready to start the mile jog. The slightly younger generation shot off in front, while the more elderly “joggers” strolled gently behind, occasionally kicking Norma out of her wheelchair so they could have a go (she did allow it, they didn’t actually force her out). Numerous times before, during and after the race, probably due to our sheer numbers, we were accosted by radio and TV presenters asking us why we were taking part. Needless to say, the Elddis Owners got a lot of media coverage that day. Just as the adults finally made it to the end, they were welcomed by a beautiful flurry of snow as they crossed the finish line, topping off a great day for a great cause. We don’t have an exact figure, but we estimate we have raised over £200. I’d like to say a big thank you for everyone who has taken part and everyone who sponsored us.

Burns Rally - Elddis Junior British Heart Presentation

Towards the end of last year, Elddis were asked to host the AGM rally for the ACCEO organisation, and Paul McArdle took on this giant task. There were many fundraising activities that took place throughout the weekend, including a huge raffle and a book stall. Half the money raised went to the charity that the Elddis Owners had chosen, which was the British Heart Foundation. By the end of the rally, we received a cheque for £385.00, and so we asked a representative to come to the Burns’ Night Rally in January to receive the cheque.

At the closing flag, Helena Mair, the British Heart Foundation representative for the Lincolnshire area, came to be presented with the cheque.

I want to say a big thank you to Paul and ACCEO for the fundraising, and Helena for coming to receive it.

Hi everyone!

Hasn’t it been hectic since the Christmas break? I hope you all got some great gifts and enjoyed the holiday, I know I did, but all too quickly it was back to the rush of school and all the dreaded homework that comes with it! However, the new year means a new book full of exciting rallies, and I started 2010 with a Scottish themed Burns’ Rally by first time rally marshals Heath and Chris, and the cold weather didn’t stop us having a brilliant time. We raised money for the British Heart Foundation on the Friday night by playing a hilarious dice game that had all the adults cheering at the sight of dots and groaning at an L, R or K. Honestly, adults are so easily pleased. We kids are obviously so much more mature. The kids also kicked off their competition with a word search of zoo animals, and decided to race to see who could complete it first. On the Saturday night was the Burns’ meal, and was followed by Ceilidh dancing, with kids grabbing partners and showing off their moves. Sunday morning brought the second part of the kids’ competition – wellie wanging! Everyone had a great time, and then it was time for flag. As many will know, over £800 was raised for the British Heart Foundation at the ACCEO rally last year, and a representative from the charity came to collect the cheque at flag on the Sunday morning. Now that the weather is considering looking up, there will be lots of fun rallies to get involved in, so I hope to see you at one in the near future, and I’ll speak soon!
