Summer 2005 Rally Reports - Part 1

Bletchingdon
4 to 6th February 2005

Anyone watching a large group of people dressed up to the nines with waistcoats, bow ties and posh frocks may be forgiven if they assumed they were off to a grand hall for a ball. However, we were in fact going to an elegant dinner, laid on by Louise Pharis in the clubhouse in the grounds of the caravan site where she was holding yet another of her fantastic Rallies. Louise and her merry band of helpers, alias her willing offspring, never cease to amaze us with the way she manages to put on such a fine spread and entertain everyone in such a fantastic way.

After our delicious meal, washed down with the odd glass of mineral water we danced the night away to the sounds of DJ the wonderful Elddis DJ.

The rest of the weekend is somewhat of a blur (I shall have to steer clear of mineral water in future!!) but Louise’s hard efforts and the lovely Oxfordshire surroundings will long be remembered.

Well done and thank you Louise and all the little Pharises for what was once again a fantastic Rally.

Shuttington
11th to 14 February 2005

New Rally Marshals, Eric & Barbara Loveridge put on a Valentines weekend for us all at Shuttington Village Hall just outside Nuneaton. We were parked alongside the Football pitch on a very wet weekend but it did not deter us from enjoying ourselves as always.

Our social was themed as you would expect with the hall decorated with 'love ' and attention and Eric provided the entertainment with his Keyboard – that’s not what I wrote originally - but needs must!

A lovely spread was presented with Ham salad and all the trimmings with tea & coffee available if the wine ran out! There was a grand raffle held and the winning ticket - belonged to Jordan Lickley who was duly presented with the biggest Cuddly Dalmatian you have ever seen - it was a female as he was also given the pup to look after! Steve's face was a picture!

Steve Lickley thanked Eric & Barbara for all their efforts on a wintry weekend, and if anyone else would like to host an Elddis Rally - anywhere in the UK, please contact your area secretary and surprise him!! Go on - you know you want to!!!

Shuttington
11th to 13th February 2005
Jordan Lickley with the dog he won at Shuttington. It was the first Rally that Eric and Barbara Loveridge have run as Marshals. I think Jordan enjoyed himself – Steve and Petra will need a bigger kennel – sorry! caravan.

Lincoln Winter Walk
20th February 2005

We were greeted by Brian & Carol Foottitt to a cold and snowy Hartsholme Park, Lincoln, for the annual walk. Well wrapped up we bravely (or foolishly) set off to walk around the lake. More snow was falling and the wind blew so hard that when the children tried to feed some of the ducks the bread kept flying back at us. We got back to our cars for a warm and to dry out before travelling into Lincoln to The Blandings Restaurant on the High Street to meet up with the friends just going to lunch. We enjoyed a good meal and a good chat after which Arthur Roberts presented Brian & Carol with their Marshals plaque.

Thanks very much Brian & Carol for an enjoyable afternoon.
