  About Us

The club was formed over the weekend of 7-9 September 1973, when 76 Elddis caravans and their owners converged on Gosforth Park Racecourse, Newcastle upon Tyne to celebrate the inaugural meeting, arranged by the management of Elddis Caravans in response to many enquiries regarding the existence of an ‘owners club’. Over that weekend a committee was elected, the structure of the club formed and from the first official rally at Lilliardsedge, Jedburgh in May 1974 through more than 3500 rallies to date, we celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2023.

Membership is open to any person over the age of 18 who is the owner of any Elddis, Compass, Buccaneer or Xplore touring caravan, campervan or motorhome and Crown and Golden Crown (1994-1998) brands and any dealer specials based on models from any of these brands.

The aim and objective of the club is to promote the interest of and social fellowship among owners of any of the touring caravans, campervans and motorhomes that qualify for membership.

Although we have support and encouragement from Elddis themselves, the club is run by members for members, with a Management Committee overseeing the clubs organisation and activities. The club is organised into 4 areas – Scotland & Northern Ireland, North, Midlands and South, with the composition of the areas being determined by post code.

  What is a rally?

A rally is a meeting or get together of members in a social atmosphere, some themed, others free and easy, but always full of fun and friendship. Rallies are the main activity of the club with meetings in many parts of the country over most of the year.

New ralliers are always made to feel welcome and there is always lots of practical help and advice on hand for those who are both new to this hobby and old hands.

Many rallies are held on green field sites – rugby clubs are popular, others maybe a dedicated rally field adjoining a commercial site, whilst a few are run on commercial sites, sometimes with optional EHU (electric hook up).

Many rallies are of 5 or 7 day duration, but members are welcome to attend for as long as is convenient to them.

As many rally sites are ‘off-grid’ most members have solar panels (free standing or fitted to the roof) to keep leisure batteries topped up and this is often enough to keep things going for up to 14 days during the height of summer. This together with gas allows the use of all on board facilities.
